Nowdays, there are plenty of options to choose from when you want to acquire a new piece of jewelry. You can choose jewelleries made of so many materials, with or without stones, in low or high price. Many people are not necessarily aware of exactly what the difference is between each piece of jewelry. That’s why I thought of writing a few thoughts on the benefits of precious metal jewelry.

When I became interested in the world of jewelry, one thing I decided was that I will only use precious metal as a raw material when making my own jewelry. This intensified in me during my goldsmith studies. But why? I want to be proud of the piece of jewelry I let go of my hands, and I want to make sure that you will wear your new Glatt Jewelry piece in the long run. I would highlight ‘in the long run”, as one of the greatest virtues of the precious metal as a raw material is its durability in additon to its resistance. But let’s also take a look at the 5+1 points promised in the title about the benefits of wearing precious metal jewelry!

1. Resistance and durability

Who wouldn’t want to be able to wear their favorite jewelry in the same condition for years or even decades? Precious metals, unlike most other metals, are resistant to corrosion. This is one of the reasons why we use to make jewelry that will accompany the wearer in the long run.

2. Value and value stability

Of course, there are exceptions, but in general, the value of gold and silver jewelry is greater than that of silver-plated or gold-plated copper jewelry. Although you can find gold-plated jewelry among the Glatt Jewelry pieces, but I always use silver jewelry as a basis for gold plating. This favors those who prefer the color of gold to silver, but prefer to target the price level of silver jewelry in terms of cost. In case of an individual order, the jewelry can of course be made entirely of gold.

3. Formability

Here comes my favourite! A great feature of precious metals is that they can be perfectly formed when properly alloyed, so they can be used to create wonderful shapes. As a jewelry designer this is very important to me, as I often design shapes that require exactly that.

4. Originality, hallmark

In the case of precious metal jewelry – optimally – by identifying the hallmark in the jewelry, you can check what (gold, silver, other) and fineness (eg 925 = sterling silver) of precious metal your jewelry is made of. Such a mark can only be given to precious metal jewelry. If you have a magnifying glass and a tremendous amount of patience, you can read the tiny mark on your jewelry, and you can find it in the following list.

5. Authenticity, authentication

In precious metal jewelry – also optimally – in addition to the hallmark, you can also find a small mark referring to the maker. It’s not really visible to the naked eye, it doesn’t make your jewelry look bad, but with a use of a magnifying glass, you can identify who made it for you. In case of Glatt Jewelry, you will find the I.O mark on the pieces, which originates from my name (Imreh Orsolya).

+1 Good to receive, but even better to give!

Giving a precious metal piece of jewelry as a gift is a beautiful gesture and at the same time you can be sure that the celebrant will be enriched with a truly quality ring, necklace, earring or other piece. Not only does the appearance make your jewelry impressive, but you also know that you give long-term, real value to whoever you gift it to.

Now you can see why it is really worth choosing jewelry made of precious metal. If you’d like to look around in the webshop of Glatt Jewelry webshopjában, you can do so here.
